Garment Making

For my certificate diploma I had to do my best and come up with a new kind of concept. I considered a lot of volumes and structures, but ultimately I remained with "scales" as the repeated structure and with an umbrella as volume.This was a last minute choice because I aimed for something more complex than making a dress on a plastic model.

I started with creating the perfect model for my concept, so from A to Z I have made a copy of a model with paper and glue and sprayed it afterwards. For a more dramatic impact I bounded a transparent fabric over the head.Then with help I assembled it to an iron lamp foot, which I also spayed in gray. For the fabric I wanted something dark and edgy with something warm and elegant like lace. For the bottom I wanted something  a little more playful so I used ping-pong balls sprayed them as well and attached them to the umbrella.
